Week of August 3 4 verses I'm perfectly imperfect. ❤️🎹☺️

You can be told and shown something a hundred times, but until you're ready to receive it…

Verse One

It had been so long since I took on a big editing project, so I had to enroll in YouTube University 😂

Editing the BTS (Behind the Scenes) music video for my song "Just Be" wasn't as easy-peasy as I had been anticipating. The last time I took on a huge video editing project was a couple of years ago. I assumed it would all come back to me once I dove in…only it didn't.

So what does anyone do these days? Enroll in YouTube University! I had to search and relearn sooooo many skills, but once I watched, it all came back. One thing I did notice: depending on how I phrased a question, I got a very different result. Note to self: Keep It Simple Stupid, or as Daddy you used to say, "KISS!"

Verse Two

If I asked…would anyone answer? Gulp

The video was taking shape and if I was going to honor the timeline I committed to with my coach last week, I needed to set a release date. I decided to poll my Patreon members to see what day/time would work. I only got a few responses, which caused a moment of hesitation. Was anyone going to show up?

That remains to be seen, but what matters is, doing this video has taken my brain in a totally different creative direction and I'm loving it. So yay—that was the goal, right?

Verse Three

Thursday's Care Team Call offered a bit of hope and a little wobbliness…

Thursday afternoon we had a scheduled Care Team call with my mother-in-law and her therapists, doctors and nurses from the rehab center. Gianni took the lead while I scribbled questions, and his sister Jodi chimed in when needed.

Overall the news was positive; she's making progress in all areas but her walking is still weeks away from being strong enough for her to come home. We could hear her disappointment and I can't even begin to understand the frustration over it all. She wants to return to her home—who wouldn't? But she's not ready, and we all need to be patient as her body catches up to her desires. And yeah….it really sucks. 😕

Verse Four

I'm already enough…DUH!

In the midst of my "week of fun," that resulted in a pretty intense video editing project, I decided that my website needed a refresh. I know. I can feel you roll your eyes. I'm rolling mine as I confess this. 🤣

Anywho, that took me down an internet rabbit hole of seeking out a more in-depth picture of my career…which led me to this epiphany. Wow! I have done and accomplished A LOT. And yes, things look a bit different than I envisioned for myself, BUT, and it's a big but…Even without the music, my life has been purposeful. I am a good friend, family member and partner. I'm a good citizen of the world and treat others with kindness and respect. And this was the big one: I still show up. For my listeners. My members. My music. But mostly for myself. I am still curious and still always excavating new perspectives and ideas about who I am in the world. It is who I am and I have no plans to be anyone other than 100% Marci. So yay! I'm enough. You're enough. Let's get on with it and be thankful for it all. ❤️

Sometimes it takes two calls…

I'm very on top of things like bills, and sometimes human error can be a bit frustrating. I had previously set up an autopay schedule with my mother-in-law's oil company…and then, while in the midst of PT, she got a call demanding payment. 🤦‍♀️ Long story short, the previous agent never activated the plan. All is well…aside from my stomach from the stress of thinking I failed her!

International Cat Day

We're cat people—and proud! Yesterday was International Cat Day, and in expected form, our mutual feline-loving friends bombarded us with memes and reels of our favorite creatures doing all kinds of silly things. Of course, I sent out a video by Rachel Bloom with the perfect balance of laughs and ick. Haha

Even uncomplicated socializing makes a difference

We're blessed with close friends who are close by. Last night we invited our besties to come over and just hang. No agenda. Just hang on our deck. Shoot the sh*t, and just be. It felt good and thankfully, the weather cooperated.
